A village completely immersed in nature

At 1,000 meters above sea level, Rifugio dell’Aquila offers a serene escape within the Tuscan-Emilian Apennine National Park. Situated on the border of the provinces of Reggio Emilia, Parma, Massa-Carrara, and Lucca, this untouched region is a haven for biodiversity. Stretching up to 2,000 meters, the landscape features lush woodlands, rolling pastures, vineyards, livestock, Slow Food Presidia, historic castles, and fascinating archaeological sites.

In 2015, UNESCO recognized the park as a “Man and Biosphere Reserve” (MaB), underscoring its extraordinary ecological value. Notably, the Triassic Gypsum, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2023, offers visitors a chance to explore rich geological and historical wonders. Experience scenic paths, panoramic trails, and a vibrant local food culture.
